How is the Family of Humanists different from other humanist organizations?
The Family of Humanists is not competing with other humanist movements and we encourage active membership with organizations such as the Unitarian Universalist Church, the American Humanist Association, and the Ethical Culture Society.
Our program is unique because of our emphasis on family humanism:
- Our decisions and plans are made at the community and family level.
- We build traditions such as "candle and bell" ceremonies and family conferences that are enjoyed by persons of all age levels.
- We are developing a "Humanism for Kids" program to help our children grow in morality and humanistic beliefs.
- We publish newsletters that encourage participation by everyone and a free exchange of ideas.
- Our weddings may be performed by any adult member.
